IPL Cinema : Plot Twists and Upsets – Greatest Shock Results in IPL History

Digital communication platforms have long fostered an interactive user experience. Touching, pinching, and zooming have become part of daily routine for consumers.

But what does this mean for IPL broadcasting? Viacom18 set out to explore this with their JioCinema campaign featuring MS Dhoni aimed at driving viewers towards trying the new way of watching TATA IPL digital for free.

1. SRH vs KKR

KKR were once more left reeling by their self-destructive batting as they fell to Sunrisers Hyderabad by five runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Nitish Rana-led side had chased 171 to win and looked on course after Rana and Rinku Singh shared an opening partnership of 70 runs between them in powerplay 2. However, regular wickets fell as SRH bowlers tightened up on visitors’ scores to restrict them further.

Hyderabad-based franchise have experienced an unsatisfactory start to their season so far, winning only three out of eight games and posting a net run rate of -0.577. They currently sit ninth with six points. Sit back and immerse yourself in the electrifying world of cricket in the much awaited Today IPL match. Watch it LIVE only on!

Anukul Roy makes an effective debut after replacing Sunil Narine, taking an impressive start by hitting two singles before passing to Klaasen who blasts one past long on for six. Unfortunately for Roy he was then bowled by Mayank Markande as he attempted to move towards deep mid wicket.

Varun Chakravarthy takes over in the middle for KKR. He immediately attempts a paddle scoop but the ball hits his pad and remains within appeal’s validity; they then opt for DRS and are granted another reprieve.

Chakravarthy attempts to exert some pace on the ball but only succeeds in sending it off-side, as SRH have struggled with their bat and need an early start to their second innings.

KKR have struggled for form this season with only three wins out of nine matches and suffering a seven-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans after failing to defend 179 runs in their last game. Now sitting eighth with six points but possessing a lower net run rate than those above them could place them in an imminent relegation fight by tournament’s end.

2. SRH vs DD

SRH are currently at the top of the table and victory against Delhi would cement their spot at the summit. DC currently lies 10th and needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Last time these two sides met, SRH were stunned by Mayank Markande’s excellent bowling performance which caused DC batsmen to falter just when it seemed they had won outright. Now, however, they must guard against this happening again or risk another loss to DC.

3. SRH vs RR

In the second match of the evening, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face Rajasthan Royals (RR). These teams have met 18 times before in IPL play, each side winning nine times each. This match could prove vitally significant to both sides; with RR hoping to build on last season’s impressive performance while SRH trying to overcome an opening day defeat against Delhi Daredevils.

SRH are without their captain Aiden Markram due to international commitments; therefore Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead them in his place. Both teams have adopted similar approaches when approaching their opening games this season and this should make for a close encounter. Rahul Tripathi and Prasidh Krishna, two openers for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), both possessing the ability to score big quickly in short. Krishna is a master ball striker and will exploit field restrictions during the powerplay to hit long shots; Tripathi on the other hand is an all-round batsman capable of all forms of batsmanship, who will strive to hit maximum runs with every stroke available to him.

Both players should look to avoid errors and minimize pressure in the early stages of an innings. Batting collapses have occurred this season and it is imperative that both of these batsmen make sure no team gets an advantage through giving any chance for a lead to get ahead.

Trent Boult has given RR an excellent start with the ball, striking twice in his opening over. First he managed to get Abhishek Sharma edging behind to Heinrich Klaasen while on the third ball Glenn Phillips hit an unbeaten six.

Nicholas Pooran will look to make an impactful debut with the bat for SRH this IPL season, having struggled previously in IPL play but showing excellent form during West Indies series. Unfortunately for Pooran, he will face off against Ravichandran Ashwin’s spin bowling who may no longer have his old speed but still possess intelligence and variations to trouble any batter.

4. SRH vs SRH

SRH are known for scoring big runs and chasing down impossible totals, making them one of the premier batting teams in the IPL. Their batsmen can put on hundreds of runs per innings to help win games for their side while their bowling department boasts Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan who contribute immensely in keeping oppositions at bay.

Although their record is impressive, the Royals have experienced ups and downs during recent seasons. Looking ahead, the team hopes that 2023 marks a turning point as Jos Buttler and Rahul Tripathi could help guide them toward victory and claim the championship trophy for themselves.

On Sunday, they will face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi for their opening game of the season.

The match will commence at 3.30 pm IST with a toss taking place half an hour prior to first ball being bowled. Conditions should remain dry and sunny with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius at its highest.
